Title: Last Light (Night Owl Trilogy #2)
Author: M. Pierce
Genre: Adult Romance
Rating: 4 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review: Night Owl || Review

I wanted to like this so much, to love it as much as I loved Night Owl. I didn’t. I ended up a bit disappointed with Last Light. I expected it to be a lot like Night Owl, and it wasn’t. I adore this Author, he teaches me things about myself I didn’t know, and he isn’t scared to be vulgar. Thank you. Last Light continues right after the Epilogue, starting and ending with a bang. I love the continued honesty, and vulgar in the writing.

I love Matt and Hannah’s story. I love both of them as a couple. Their connection is so intense and all consuming. Always so hot and heavy, but I don’t feel that connection when they aren’t having sex. With this book being the second one I expected to see more emotional connection, more about Matt and his past. We didn’t get any of that. I have so many question that need answering, and I really hope I get that in the third book.

I felt so terribly sad for Hannah in this book. Poor girl is unhappy in life because her boyfriend decided to be a pussy and wuss out because he lost his privacy. He was rude to his fans, and even his damn girlfriend. He claims he did it both for them, but we all know he only did it for himself, he’s incredibly selfish and a compulsive liar. Two of the worst traits a person can have.

While I still very much enjoyed this book. I wish it were different. I wish I got more of a connection with the two characters minus the sex. They also need to stop hurting each other, for people in their late twenties they sure as hell are immature. The book lacked the fast pace thrill the first book had. Matt and Hannah are intense, and I love that about them. They’re an all or nothing kind of couple. If you’re curious about the aftermath of Night Owl, read this. It isn’t a bad read, very enjoyable, entertaining, and lustful but a bit dragged. I will continue to support Matt and Hannah in their adventures, in hopes to feel a larger emotional connection between the two.

Title: The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy #1)
Author: Marie Rutkoski
Genre: Young Adult
Rating:

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:

The first half of this book felt to be a drag. I couldn't get into it. The new world was so hard to adjust to, and more so the point of view. I hope you all fall easier into the book than I did. It is told in third person, and I detest third person. When I read the first page, I swear I rolled by eyes so high up it touched the heavens. The writing it's self, the description, and characters: were all fantastic. I very much enjoyed each character, they weren't a cliche. Each person had so much depth, and the details she placed in your head to create this beautiful movie was great. I love the forbidden love aspect, huge fan of all things forbidden over here.

I just really wished it didn't take me eighteen chapters so finally get excited and into the book. But I promise once I was interested, I was hooked. A goner for sure. I couldn't put the book down. Sneaking a page at work here and there, maybe more than a page... Okay a chapter. The last hundred pages are amazing! I love Kestrel and Arin’s character. How he’s not ashamed of his feelings for her. Sometimes he thinks he’s being slick but he’s actually being really obvious and it’s so adorable.

“My soul is yours” he said. “You know that it is.”

The over all plot was brilliant. It was constructed so well. The plot twist: some I saw coming, others hit me like a tsunami. I still don’t fully understand a lot of the things happening in the book. I’m confused about “the god of lies, and the whole understanding thing" from the last two pages.. Now that I’ve finished I actually appreciate the third person point of view. I got to see everything, their facial expressions, when one was lying/hurt, it felt more personal than first person. It’s a better alternative to interchanging chapters. Surprisingly I didn’t find the ending to be heartbreaking/sad. Kestrel did something so selfless for the greater good of the Herrani people, and I respect her so much for it. I warn you though, do not listen to “A drop in the ocean - Ron Pope” after (like I did) you will cry like a helpless baby. I highly recommend this book. It’s filled with action, forbidden love, and beautiful lyrical words.

Title: You were Mine
Author: Abbi Glines
Genre: Adult
Rating:

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:

Abbi Glines has always been one of those Authors I know would never disappoint. She has a way with captivating her reader straight from the beginning. Reeling you in with the first paragraph and falling in love with the second. She's one of the most phenomenal romance authors out there. -- I was a it skeptical on reading Bethy and Tripp's story because of how much I adore Jace. It was worth it though, every sentence in this book is a hook.

I related so easily with Bethy. Starting with her sixteen year old self, so sweet, innocent, and quiet. It was easy to place yourself in her shoes. Then there was the loss of her love. Loss I know nothing of but, I felt like thousands of knives prickling at my heart I felt the loss of Jace. I left the loss of Tripp from eight years ago. Every single feeling Bethy felt I did too. She was me, and I was her.

There was no way that Tripp couldn't win me over. He is the epitome of perfect. He's patient, devoted to her, protective, and has a hell of a mouth ;)

I loved the interchanging chapters. Seeing each other from different point of views. It didn't seem cliche or bland but tasteful and perfectly constructed. Tripp had the heart of a desperately in love man and I felt exactly that and saw that from Bethy's eyes. Bethy was broken and hollow. You could feel it and see it through Tripp's eyes, and boy did it hurt. I loved the additional new information on the other characters. It was such a beautiful touch to get so much of them in the book. They've all been severely missed but their time of heart ache is over, and they deserve the happily ever after.

This is one of my favorite reads this month. It was angsty, sexy, and heartbreaking. Like Bethy by the end you will find yourself to be okay. I highly recommend the Rosemary Beach series if you haven't already read them. I also recommend reading them in order. You can read them separately but why miss out on all the hotness of the characters from this series? Most beautifully constructed book and is the perfect story of forgiveness and second chances. Favorite Abbi Glines book yet!

Jace you'll always be loved, Rest In Peace.

Title: One More Chance
Author: Abbi Glines
Genre: Adult
Rating: 4 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:

Abbi Glines has this very addictive way of writing. Where she reels you in with her every words and makes you her bitch. You won't be able to stop reading, thinking or even concentrate on anything that isn't related to her books. I've adored The Rosemary beach series for so long and have followed it religiously. It's beautiful to see everyone's story come together and unravel.

I remember falling in love with Grant while Blaire hated Rush. Grant had this laid back casual sweet boy charm to him. Along with his gorgeous face and alluring body he's hard to ignore. This is such a beautiful conclusion to their story. If there was any girl I thought would be best for Grant it would be Harlow. She's sweet selfless and a breath of fresh air to him.

I was completely in love and captivated by this book. I read it in one sitting. It hurts my heart to say I couldn't fully give this book five stars. I loved the story, adored every single part of it from beginning to end. I just couldn't relate to Harlow/ put myself in her shoes. I didn't feel the emotions pour through me. I was more looking into the world than living it. And to me, a five star book is myself living the world. — Perfectly constructed story of true love and bravery. I cannot wait to continue the series that will never disappoint me.

Title: The Retribution of Mara Dyer
Author: Michelle Hodkin
Genre: Young Adult
Rating: 4 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:

I hate the after math of finishing a series. The empty feeling that lingers in your system for days on out. During those days there's only one thing on your mind: Do they end up living happily forever? — Michelle is a phenomenal writer and I applaud her for creating such a beautiful and captivating story with the most intriguing characters. I feel so honored to be one of her readers and cannot wait to read more of her future work.

In this book we get something we never got in the others: Noah’s point of view. Michelle did a phenomenal job of creating his thoughts. I loved the interchanging chapters. Noah Shaw’s point of view is not what I expected. It has the whit, charm, and vulgarity of his language, but I didn't expect to see a "wuss" side to him. He's always been this masculine figure to me that could or would try to fix anything and everything. Until I saw him break and I think I fell deeper in love with him.

I was a bit disappointed to how we got to the conclusion. Something was definitely missing throughout eighty percent of the book. It was not boring, or unentertaining to read, surprisingly it was very entertaining. But God did it feel like home to finally get what we were missing. For a final book in a trilogy, it’s not something I wanted. I expected it more from the second book, but not this one. I wanted to see more action, witty cute-drool-worthy moments between Mara and Noah. I wanted to see them fight against the world. Not that I'm not happy with what I got because lord knows I wouldn't be able to write anything better. I just wish we got more. (Also apologies for being extremely vague in this paragraph. I just really do not want to spoil anything..)

Call me selfish but I just need to know their future. I reuse to believe they can't choose their fate. Did I enjoy it? Heck yeah! It wasn't the plot I was expecting but I'll take what I can get. I love how short the book felt. Pages were flying and next thing I knew I finished. It's bitter sweet when things you love come to an end but I'm happy these two beautiful people finally get the break they deserve. Also really brilliant how the last couple pages tied up with the first book. --- Brb while I drive twenty mins to the city and pray I see Noah going for a run ;)

Title: Dusk (The Dire Wolf Chronicles #2)
Author: Alyssa Rose Ivy
Genre: New Adult Paranormal
Rating: 4 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review: Dire (The Dire Wolf Chronicles #1 | Review)

I’ve been waiting four month for this book! The way the last one ended was so good, I knew I had to read this asap. As soon as I was sent the arc (advance readers copy) I dove straight into the book. I missed the Dire word with Gage, Hunter, and all things amazing and cold. This book is definitely a lot better than the first book. In the first book, I didn’t like the writing at all, I found it un-descriptive, a lot more telling than showing. Alyssa Rose Ivy has definitely changed. I love the writing in this one, if flowed so beautifully, and I saw everything happening in my head like an action-packed movie. She left nothing for me to imagine, it was already done for me.

If I thought I was torn about Hunter and Gage in the first book, I’m a hot mess now. There were so many beautiful parts with Gage and Mary Anne in the first book where you feel the connection between the two. It’s beautiful to feel how much they belong with one another. In this book, it’s Hunter. He’s so amazing like a book with out a synopsis he’s a mystery you want to unravel and learn everything about. He’s intelligent, sweet, sexy and smooth with words. I guess you can say I’m team Gater (Gage and Hunter) I feel so terribly bad for Mary Anne and the situation she’s in. The girl can’t catch a break.

What I enjoyed more than anything in this book is the triple point of views. I love hearing Gage thoughts especially with his new found self, Mary Anne fighting to love both men and stay loyal to Gage, and Hunter hopelessly falling in love with Mary Anne. There’s huge difference between the two Male characters. I was scared that they’ll both sound so similar, but they didn’t. They were exactly what I thought they would sound like. Gage is impulsive, hot headed, and mischievous, Hunter is smooth, patient, loving, and definitely dirty minded. You can tell there’s an age gap because of the maturity in the way they think.

I am so excited for the third installment. Just as I was finally and totally team hunter, Alyssa Rose Ivy reels me back into the arms or Gage and now my feels are more conflicting then before. I can’t wait to see how the next book plays out, and how it’ll come to an end. This book was everything I thought it would be: action packed, steamy, and amazing! I highly recommend this book, it has a love triangle (I love, love triangles I just hate that someone always gets hurt..), action, and paranormal all in one beautiful book. I only wished that it was longer! Happy reading loves, xx.

Title: This man
Author: Jodi Ellen Malpas
Genre: Adult Romance
Rating: 3 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:
Call me weird but I love all things about Alpha male characters. I love their domineering side, but I also love to see that hint of sweet and romance in them. I think to create the perfect Alpha character there definitely has to be a balance. I am disappointed with this book. I didn’t love it, I liked it and I really wish I did love it. Jodi is a great writer. She’s very detailed, and makes sure you know exactly where you are and what situation you’re in. You’ll know the smell around you, - she’s very descriptive and I love that. I love being thrown into a book and automatically adjusting because of a very talented Author.

My sister says she knows I wasn’t enjoying the book because I was letting her interrupt my reading, and I was happy to be interrupted. The book was very cliche. It starts off as Ava (our main female character) meeting a client Jesse Ward (enter in Alpha male) and when she meets him his beauty renders her speechless. Literally he talks to her and for about a minute all she does is take in his beauty. Sex was the weapon in this book, I’m sure they don’t even know each other favorite color, birthdays, or age…. But they will have sex with each other multiple times, too many times in a chapter. Shall I elaborate? In one chapter there are four sex scenes. There is sex in each chapter, and the only time they aren’t having sex or doing anything sexual is when he’s driving, or she’s at work. I wanted so badly to feel the love with these characters. They have chemistry for sure, but just sexually. There wasn’t any emotions between the two.

Jesse is way too possessive it’s unnerving. I have no problem with possessive guys. I’ve read my fair share of them and love them all: Christian Grey, Gideon Cross, Travis Maddox, Remington Tate, Daemon Black, and etc.. I could deal with Grey, and Cross being possessive over their women because they were in actual danger through out the book. If Jesse had his way she’s never leave his side. The girl can barely go into work, go out with friends without ground rules and him having bouncers watch her. He’ll leave eight missed calls when she’s showering and will show up to her place. It’s suffocating.

I won’t give up on this series because I’ve heard it gets better, and I’d like to see character growth. And because I'm optimistic and a hopeless romantic. I want their relationship to blossom beyond just sex, I want the emotional parts too. I like Jodi’s writing and the characters, just not the crazy possessive parts. I like Ava she’s successful, beautiful and I’m not bothered with their unknown age gap. I think it could have been such a mesmerizing story if I could feel emotions coming from each of them instead of just lust, if there was an actual reason for Jesse being bat shit crazy/possessive, and if Jodi answered some of the questions we have in our mind like: age, scar, sarah, and etc.. I won’t ever tell you not to read a book because everyone is different. Even though it wasn't what I expect I’ll continue the series.. And that should tell you there’s some good in it. I hope you enjoy it, if you decided to give it a go.

Title: The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Author: Michelle Hodkin
Genre: Young Adult
Rating: 5 | 5

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:
This is one of those book where you have to cover the next page and read each line with a piece of paper. You will be addicted, you will not sleep, and you will fall so much harder for Noah in this. I love Michelle Hodkin’s writing, it’s so descriptive, and clear where you can just see every sentence playing into a scene in your head. Her words are so beautiful and lyrical, and extremely entrancing. I loved this book WAY more than the first book.

The dark murky vibe of the book is not scary but exciting. It’s suspenseful and I never knew what was coming next. Each chapter was filled with plot twist, and each one ended in a cliff hanger. I was a starved man for this book, I couldn’t stop reading, frantically flipping through pages… and crying. The amount of times I cried is pretty pathetic, and I just hope who ever reads The Evolution next prepares them selves. You’re in for a hell of a ride.

"If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them. If we were to live a thousand lives, I would want to make you mine in each one.”
Noah Shaw, has stolen the spot of my number one Young Adult book boyfriend!  He’s romantic, english, and so damn passionate. I can’t put my love (obession) into words! The chemistry between Noah and Mara is so unbelievable intense and sexy, half the time I feel like I should even be reading that part it seems like I’m prying into someone else life. Their passion and love for one another is mind blowing, and I love the innocence in their relationship. No character in a book will ever love one another as much as these two.

I am so impressed with this book. The last hundred and fifty pages were so intense. I was jumping, crying, and was on edge the whole time! The plot is so incredible and well constructed. There is nothing in this book that isn’t perfect. I totally feel for you people who read this when it came out because with that type of Cliff hanger as an ending I would have ripped my hair out.. Because of the third book, being released and the whispers I’ve heard, I was okay when the book ended. I highly recommend this book to everyone. If you want some thing captivating, this it is, if you want hot and passionate love between characters, this is it, if you wanna be confused and not know what you’re reading the whole time but are still loving it, then yeah this is it.

Title: Night Owl
Author: M. Pierce
Genre: Adult Romance
Rating: 5 | 5!!

Synopsis: Goodreads

Review:
I'm still descending from the high this story brought me on. I cannot believe how mesmerized I was. I was hooked by the first line, and in love by the second paragraph. I didn’t expect to finish this in two days (due to book slump), I had a very simple plan for it: I was going to double read this and another, you know to see if I could balance it out. Nope not a damn chance. This isn't one of those books you double read. This is the type you sit and devour and give yourself into a hundred percent. From the moment I read the first chapter I was swept into this world: The Internet. Just like Hannah I have online friends I chat with on a daily basis and a writing buddy. So very quickly I related to the main character.

I love the writing of this book. It was so honest, vulgar, and descriptive. Woooweee was this book descriptive. I don’t see a lot of Authors taking the leap with the kind of language in this book. And I’m so happy the book was the way it is. It felt more real to me. The plot was amazing, I never knew what was coming, and the book it self is well constructed.

  • Hannah: I love how selfless this girl is. She’s funny, blunt, and so confident. She isn’t your typical bleak, weak main characters. I love how she loved her own body, and owned her self. She was comfortable with anything Matt suggested. She’s open minded and just all around a great character.
  • Matt: Kind of an asshole, but I like it. Is that odd to say? Probably not. What’s weird to say is that I think Matt is a hunk of hotness. I have a feeling the Author did exactly what Matt did in the book: describe his character to look exactly like himself. And if that is true, then god bless the muse to Hannah.
Matt did a lot of seriously messed up things. I just never thought they were wrong. For some reason I was always on his side. I rooted for him, when I shouldn’t have. And that leads me to my next thought: I love love love the interchanging chapters in this book. I think I’m very hard to please when it comes to that. It’s either the man starts to sounds like a weak little girl, or there just isn’t anything obvious that differentiate the two voices. In this book there was a hell of a difference, and I love that so much. I loved seeing Hannah from his point of view, and he from she. It gives the book so much more depth, and as it grows you start to feel their emotions through yourself. I highly recommend this book to everyone! If you're looking for a great adult romance: read it, if you're looking to get out of your comfort zone and dive into the unexpected: read it. Whatever you do, just read it.

I love this mysterious Author, thank you for making my first finished book in 2015 one of my favorites. Your words, are simply bewitching. I cannot wait to read more.
